Cellfina is the only FDA approved treatment for cellulite.
It is a non-surgical, minimally invasive approach to divide the tight ligaments under the skin that accounts for the characteristic skin dimpling seen in cellulite. It involves a suction device and a highly specialized cutting microblade needle designed specifically to divide the cause of the skin problem.

This can be performed under local or general anaesthesia and depends if the treatment is combined with other treatments. These include the injection of Radiesse or liposuction and fat transfer, all of which are designed to improve the contour and quality of the skin.
Your suitability for this treatment will be determined during a full assessment no-commitment consultation with Dr Rory and he will provide all the necessary details for your particular case.
If performed under local anaesthetic, this treatment can be performed in the luxurious state of the art treatment rooms within the clinic.
Many patients have their treatment and return to work or normal activities that same day with no downtime.
What is the aim of Celfina treatment?
To reduce the appearance of cellulite.
How long will the results last?
Many factors may exacerbate cellulite in women and include the severity grading of cellulite, genetic predisposition, weight gain and also the hormone changes approaching menopause.
Following effective treatment, evidence suggests the results of Cellfina treatment will last for a minimum of three years. Satisfaction with the appearance increases with time.
This is prolonged if additional treatments such as Radiesse, liposuction and fat transfer are also used in combination. Thereafter, the above factors will obviously effect the appearance of the skin as time passes.
What happens on the day of treatment?
Prior to the day of treatment you would have had a full consultation with Dr Rory who will assess your particular case and advise if you are a good candidate.
If you are suitable, the areas to be treated are measured, marked and the treatment plan is outlined. Detailed photographs from multiple angles are taken and you are weighed. You would have been asked to mark dimples at home that particularly concern you.
For the treatment, this may be performed in the luxurious state of the art treatment rooms. Further meticulous markings are performed with specilaised lighting to highlight contour irregularities. Numbing cream is then applied followed by local anaesthesia to make the procedure comfortable.
Suction applicators are applied to the areas and the microblade system is used to divide the tight ligaments. This process is then repeated for any other areas chosen for treatment. If Radiesse injections are planned, this is performed at the end of the procedure.
No stitches or dressings are needed. You are advised to wear tight fitting cycling shorts.
The length of the Cellfina session depends on the number of areas being treated. You can relax whilst the treatment is being performed, reading, working or watching the television.
Once finished, and you are feeling comfortable, the team will then allow you to be discharged.
If Cellfina treatment is combined with liposuction and fat transfer this is performed under general anaesthesia in the operating room within the hospital. Please see the liposuction and fat transfer sections for further information.
How long will the treatment take?
Depending on the degree of Cellfina treatment, the procedure time ranges between thirty to sixty minutes.
This does not include anaesthesia time or other treatments such as Radiesse injections. In total, the whole procedure may last longer.
Will the procedure be painful?
No, one of the primary aims of any procedure performed by Dr Rory is to create a pain free experience. A long acting local anaesthetic agent is placed into the surgical area at the end of the procedure.
In terms of recovery, there will be some bruising, swelling and tenderness in the treatment area and some discomfort on movement and sitting for the first few days.
What is the recovery period?
There is no recovery period for Cellfina as there is no downtime.
There will be some tenderness and swelling in the treated area and perhaps some discomfort on movement but this does not effect normal activities.
What should I consider when recovering from the procedure?
There is a noticeable improvement within the first few days which improves with time up to the three year mark.
The results may be improved with combination treatments.
Bruising may persist for two weeks or more.
What is the cost of the procedure?
The cost starts at 10,000 AED (excluding VAT).
The final cost is determined on a case by case basis dependent on complexity and additional procedures. Combination treatments will lower the price of individual procedures or surgeries if done together.
A full body no-commitment consultation with Dr Rory will provide all the necessary details for your particular case.
What are the risks of the procedure?
These include some discomfort, infection, risk of bruising, degrees of recurrence of cellulite over time, areas of pigmentation. Additional procedures carry additional risks. Please see the liposuction and fat transfer sections for further information.
What is the follow up after the procedure?
Each patient has a follow up schedule that is different depending on combination treatments.
You will be advised by Dr Rory and his team about your particular follow up journey after your cellulite treatment.
Typically it involves seeing the team a month after treatment for a check and then at six months.
