As we age our facial shape changes. This is more apparent when we look at younger pictures of ourselves. Generally speaking in youth we have a fuller triangular face and with age we loose volume (deflation) and our face shape becomes an inverted triangle.
One of the reasons we develop this inverted triangle is because of loss of bony support in the cheek.

One of the reasons we develop this inverted triangle is because of loss of bony support in the cheek.
As a result we loose the natural fullness in cheek we have in youth. This leads to the loss of the natural curve and high point of the cheek.
This volume can be replaced using dermal fillers such as Juvederm volume.
Treatment of the cheeks is often needed in the treatment of the tear trough.
